About GAP Baseball League Games

Upcoming 2009 Fall Season

All Simpsonville games will be played at Historic Woodside Mill Baseball Park in Simpsonville, SC., unless we have 10 or more teams.   Map to the field.

All games will be played on Sunday afternoons.  If we have eight or more teams, some teams may have an occasional game on Saturday evenings which would begin at 7:30pm.  Sunday's games start at 1pm, 4:15pm and 7:30pm.  If only 6 teams or less in a division, all three games will be played on Sundays.

We will have a Spring Season "Work-out" session a week before the season begins in Simpsonville at Woodside Mill Baseball Park.  All new players and "interested players" are invited to come out and take some infield and outfield practice during this work-out session.  This is also an opportunity to ask some of the veteran players and/or the commissioner anything you'd like about the league.  The Work-out session should not be confused with a try-out session.  All players who register will be placed on a team and receive fair playing time.  Attending the Work-out session is optional.

The 2009 Fall Work-Out session will be on August 23rd from 5:00 to 8:00pm.

Baseball at Dusk!

The first game for the 2009 Fall Season will be the weekend of August 29/30th.  The schedule is always subject to change; please check this Website often for announcements.

Rain-out Policy:  If the field is deemed unplayable due to inclement weather or poor field conditions, it will be posted on the Website no later than two hours before game time.  Otherwise, the home plate Umpire will decide the field's condition at game time.

Make-up Game Policy:  The league will attempt to schedule up to two make-up games for cancelled games due to inclement weather.  Make-up games may be scheduled on a Saturday, or earlier on Sunday (no earlier than 1:00pm).  Any team who has two games in a single weekend, must play 7-inning games (including the teams who don't play two games that weekend).

Home team wears BLUE jerseys; Away team wears RED jerseys. Caps and Jerseys MUST be worn to play. NO EXCEPTIONS.

All 9-inning games will be played within a 3-hour time limit.  No new inning may start after 2 hours and 45 minutes.  All 7-inning games will be played within a 2 hour and 30 minutes time limit; no new inning may start after 2 hours and 15 minutes.   Please note that most games will never complete 9-innings due to the three hour limit.

All games MUST start on time.  Time limits will not be extended for late starts.

All games will have two umpires officiating; one behind the plate and one at the bases.

All games are 9-innings in length for single game weekends.  If a team has a game on a Saturday and a Sunday on the same weekend, or a true double-header, the games will be 7-inning games (this will save pitching arms).

"Legend's Weekend" - September 27th , 2009 - Wooden bats only, in honor of Shoeless Joe, Ty Cobb and all other greats who never needed metal for a home-run!

Continuous batting order - The batter on-deck in the last game is the lead-off hitter in the next game.

Time Restricted Play-off games - All play-off games will be a full 9-inning game.  However, after 2-hours and 45 minutes, the play-off game will commence with 1-pitch innings, where the batting team places the player who made the last out last inning at second base.  Then every pitch is either an out (strike, including fouls), a walk (a ball; HBP), or hit into play.  Additional 1-pitch innings will continue until a winner is decided.

Championship Game - The final game will be 9-innings, with no time limits or 1-pitch innings.
